The Job Application Thing
Oct 3rd, 2006 by Jon
Once again I am doing the job application thing. This is because there is no such thing as job security. I work for a company that needs to make more money. To do that, they need less people. 4000 less people in the UK, I believe. I might be one of those, but to try and minimise the chances, I’m re-applying for my job. It’s ok though, because this happens a lot, apparently. And it’s also ok because I’m ok. It’ll be ok. Okay? OK!
If I keep my job, I will spend it at our new offices just a little distance out of Norwich City. It’s a lovely office. Brand spanking new. New, but cheap, I would assume, in order to keep those costs down. My favourite thing about my new office is my monitor and the way it floats in front of me. When I say float (cheaply), I mean ‘is suspended from a rather expensive looking adjustable arm’. It’s brilliant, once you know how!
I’m there already, you see. I am planning to cycle on my new not-yet-stolen bike (with gears…which is currently broken), but at the moment I’m travelling by foot, then bus, then foot again. This costs me nothing, which is great. I’m all about the saving money and the lemonade at the moment. That’s because I got drunk and was ill. A hangover is what some would call it. I would do a bit of ‘chain letters’ on that word hangover to make ‘hell’. ‘H’, ‘E’, ‘L’, ‘L’. HELL. So I’ve quit drinking. Now all I’ve got to do is cycle to work (it’s near the top of the list) and stop eating rubbish food all of the time.
I’m going to see the Lemonheads on Thursday. This is not because I now drink lemonade. It’s because I’ve paid John for the tickets, although I’ve still not paid him all the money for the TV Licence. The BBC can’t touch me (this) though, because John HAS paid all of the TV fee money thing, so it’s legit and legal. DJ, my brother would be able to make use of this had a recent thunderstorm not blown his tv. Yowzer!
Time for bed. I have to get up early(ier without the y) these days.
Get in touch if you want to. One person out there does not have to do this, as it’s my turn! You know who you are (last summer!)
