…me and the boys went to Dublin for a few days of culture (guinness) and general relaxation. It was a brilliant holiday and one that I won’t forget in a hurry, thanks to the photos!
Adam was the brains behind this little adventure. It was originally just going to be him. But no single man on his own is going to entice the local Irish girls, is he? No! So he recruited a few friends to join him on his quest…to drink guinness and stuff.
Designated driver for the journey was Kit. He might not be chosen for the next holiday due to his lateness in picking us up and getting us to the airport. That said, he did get us to the airport, so he was a pretty good choice. Not too surprisingly for me these days, I was not worried about making or missing the plane. I didn’t know what time we flew. I had no idea when we should have been leaving home. I didn’t know our flight number, the name of the hostel we were staying at or anything else about the holiday. I just packed a lot of things into an unreasonably big bag for a 6-night trip and followed someone else. It was great. We arrived at Standsted to find the longest queue you could ever imagine. Luckily for us, we were so late that this queue was actually for the next flight. We had 5 minutes to get to the lady at the desk and check in. Check in. Done! (Gordon Ramsey stylee!).
No time for a pint, but definitely time for a packet of cookies whilst waiting for boarding. iPod in hand and book in the other, I looked forward to my journey. The last time I was on a plane that had anything to do with Ireland involved me being violently sick. Not this time! I sat down in my seat, had my iPod stolen by Adam and read my book.
Once in Ireland we got a drunk taxi driver to drive us on the same roads used by all the other drunk drivers to our hostel on the south (or north!) side of the river in Dublin. We settled into our luxurious room (with sink) and prepared for an afternoon/evening of drinking and getting to know the city in which we would be living for the next few days.
Drinking and dance mat took up the majority of the rest of the holiday, with a few touristy excursions thrown in for good measure. Check out the photos for some snaps of the kind of activities we enjoyed in our Irish home.
It was fun! I love guinness!

I made it… I feel so proud!! As promised I have very much returned the favour!
I can now even say I have a link to a bloke in a band…. how lucky am I!!
So you have! Thank you very much. Now, so long as lots of people visit your website (which I’m sure they do), then loads of peeps will visit my website too…maybe!
To know me…the drummer for The Slings…is an honour and a privilege. Well done you!
Does the world know that I’M IN A BAND again? I should probably post something to alert people of this.
Yup, The Slings ;)
And what is the origin of the name ?
