Leaving on a jet plane…

…disguised as a green vw passat estate!
Today is my penultimate day in Nottingham, my home for the past seven or so years on and off. I’m supposed to be busy packing all my belongings into boxes that will make it nice and easy for my dad to load into the car when he arrives. Only I’m not doing that, am I? No. Instead, I’m writing this uninteresting post on my uninteresting website. And you’re reading it! I’m also on the phone to Nottingham City Council as I write this to inform them that I’m leaving. I could just not bother and assume that sooner or later they’ll read this and figure out that I’ve moved and therefore no longer need to be billed £1221.92 council tax every year for living in the expensive area of Nottingham that I decided to move to! But that would be presumptuous and risky and likely to end in yet another court summons and we don’t want that, do we?! Do we? No, we do not! Although it would get me back to Nottingham for a day or so.
So, I’m unemployed. I wonder how many unemployed people have websites. I can safely say there is one, but I suspect there may be others. During my time of unemployment since last Friday I have been flooded with job offers, which is encouraging. What is slightly less encouraging is the Health and Safety Manual Lifting course I attended in Manchester yesterday that should enable me to do one of these jobs, which I already have been given a starting date for, apparently! Oh well, a job is a job is a job is a heavy lifting manual labour job. You’ve got to start somewhere! I’m not worried yet though, as I like variation in my job, and as I said, there have been other offers. Keep those fingers crossed for me. I beg you!
Manchester is nice. The sun was out. I liked their train station. I’m still on hold. Now, I’m a fast typer, but this is ridiculous. My phone bill is soon going to be in direct competition with my council tax bill. Come on Nottingham City Council! Maybe they’ve outsourced to NTL or something. Either way, I’m tempted to hang up and try again later.
My VE leaving do was a blast (photos to follow). Thanks to all of those that came along to see me off. I had a brilliant evening and I appreciated the company. Also, thanks heaps for my leaving presents. It’s clear that you’ve managed to figure me out over the past 18 months. The Ted Baker vouchers were almost exchanged for a very tidy suit today, but I figured it would be a good idea to see what job I end up with first. I’m not sure if my knee pads would go well with it either, but safety must come before fashion, especially with my track record…of bad safety, not bad fashion. What else did you guys get me? Hmmm, chocolate. Thank you, Simon! There’s still one bar left. Mmmm! First aid kit - still intact, but the cobbled streets of Norwich may soon change that. I didn’t notice any false teeth in there though! And the cards. That’s right folks…two cards! Thank you for all the comments! You’ll be missed.
So there we go. Another chapter in Nottingham is drawing to a close. I wonder what stories Norwich will produce. One or two, I should think, especially with the planned trip to Dublin not long after getting there. We all know what happened last time I went to Dublin, don’t we? I just wish someone would tell me!
Folks, it’s been memorable. You take care now!!

thank you. and sorry for that last text message. it was uncalled for. it’s nice to hear from you!
That’s okay. I did understand. It was good that you said it in a weird kind of way. I guess if you knew my situ you might make some kind of sense of it but hey, it doesn’t matter, the past is the past. Anyway, hope your day was a happy one! :)
