Jon visits the dentist…
Nov 14th, 2005 by Jon
Few people enjoy going to the dentist. Those that do are…well, into lots of other things that most people are probably not in to too, I would guess! My latest trip to the dentist has been excellent though. That’s because I live in Nottingham, go to the dentist in Ipswich and have the chance to stop by at my brothers in Norwich on my way to get fillings! This is a good thing.
My journey involved the usual last minute dash to the train station on foot, leaving minus 5 minutes to spare. Thankfully my train was late; something to do with the wrong kind of leaves on the track. This is the same excuse I use for getting to work late when commuting via skateboard. The actual train journey consisted of a limited playlist on my ipod and me facing backwards rather than forwards beacuse seat 22F in Coach A was occupied by a woman in a hat.
DJ greeted me at the station in the trusty Fiesta. We zoomed home, changed, picked up a Maccy D’s and headed to the slopes of artificial white stuff to meet the rest of the guys for a couple of drinks. We followed these drinks with last orders at The King’s Arms before making our way back to Brentwood House.
Back in the warm, Jumbo Linkies and alcohol fueled about five more hours of much fun. It was Gem’s idea and a great one. I’ve not stayed up drinking like that for ages. Horray for alcohol…and lots of water a few hours sleep. The couch was my bed for the night.
On Saturday we headed to the coast for arcade action and single-speed bike testing. The result…less change than we arrived with and a more or less convinced Jon that he should get that bike he wants. In addition, Gem rocked on the dance mat machine, A to the B told me some inappropriate chat up lines, Kit (and Gem) both got ketchup on their clothes, and DJ went home with ¬£10 less than he intended (cheers bro, I’ll pay you back)
In the evening we booted up for some ice skating madness. Painful but fun. DJ and Adam’s tumble on the ice will be remembered. It happened fairly close to the big wet gash. Photos may appear here if DJ sends them my way. Watch this space. After skating we headed home to drink enough to get us in the mood for a night at Liquid Night Club. The decent bouncers let Vicky in with trainers. Rock on, dudes! The evening was great. I like dancing sometimes. This was one of those times.
On Sunday we woke up late, enjoyed a bagel or two and paid a visit to The Waffle House. It’s my favourite place to eat at the moment and if Nottingham were to open one, it would be a tiny bit closer to being as cool as Norwich. All waffled up, it was time to head to Ipswich to see the folks, the engaged sister, the dog, and the new gas fire. It is from my parents home in Ipswich that I write this. I’m sitting in the same seat that I ordered my new bike from this morning. That should be arriving in Nottingham on Thursday. I can’t wait…to find out whether it’s suitable or not. Fingers cross it’ll be sweet.
In summary…
Chances of me moving to Norwich in the foreseable future: 80%
