Once around the block…

This post is all about jogging and fitness and jogging! I wouldn’t say that I jog. However, I have just started jogging again. And that’s possibly pushing the boundaries of that statement because I’ve only been twice, but that’s twice in one week, which is a pretty good start, I’m sure you’d agree.
Why did I bother to go out for a run? Well, because for the first time in eight weeks, the infamous tuesday night five-a-side (or five-a-five as one friendly Italian guy calls it) football was cancelled due to lack of available players. I’d like to point out that I’m wasn’t one of the people who caused the game to be cancelled. Although I wasn’t particularly in the mood that day, I did have my kit with me and would have happily let a few goals in for an hour. Anyway, the point is, the usual tuesday night activity was not happening. It’s my main form of fitness, and without it, I’m going to go all jabba the hut. Nobody wants this! So, as soon as I got home, I donned my shorts, t-shirt, trainers and trust ipod mini and off I went (after a warm up, of course).
I was out for about 20 minutes, and the pace wasn’t bad! It was a nice run. Nice and peaceful apart from the foos blasting in my ears around the hilly roads of The Park. I felt good for what I had achieved!
More impressive was my successful early morning jog today at 08:30, an hour and a half before work. Rock on! (thanks to Jo for using a bit of black-magic-reverse-phsycology on me to get me up!)
I had attemped the early morning run the previous day, but when I realised my bed was warmer than outside, I fell back into a deep sleep and woke up at the same time as I should have been clocking into work! D’oh! 20 minutes and one ¬£6 taxi journey later, I was at my desk, smelling because I hadn’t had time for a shower. Sorry colleagues…for being late and being smelly. Usually I smell nice!
So, fitness first, fatness never!
